Oil spill near U.S. 59 and Hwy 59 S.
GOLIAD, Texas – The TCEQ Corpus Christi Region is monitoring the cleanup of an oil spill in Goliad. It happened on March 1 following a crash where a semi-truck caught fire and burned.
It happened near U.S. Hwy 59 South and FM 1351. The truck was transporting a pallet of cases with motor oil in 1-quart containers equating to about 488 gallons.
The TCEQ said the responsible party, Schneider National, has hired contractors to conduct remediation of the site. The site is awaiting approval from Texas 811 to begin excavation of the affected areas.
The TCEQ wants a spill remediation report and remains in close contact with the responsible party and the remediation companies.
